Started to Crochet with Plarn

Good Evening

I hope you all have had a great weekend.  We have been sorting and decluttering the bedroom.  We now have the home gym ready and access to all waldrobes and drawers (first time in 4.5 years!).  And I have managed to salvage 1 t-shirt to be made into scarf and 4 of hubby's shirts to be made into something, maybe dresses or long tops to go over my skinny jeans.

Other than that I havent really been busy.  This is as far as my ball of plarn got me.  I did start doing single crochet and then decided that it would take a year to make my bag so switched to double crochet.  Got another lot of bags to cut up which might be done tonight.

And here are the 2 ear warmers I made.  I do like the white and pink one so might make another.  My daughter loves her one and one of her teachers commented on how lovely it was in school last week.

Not really done much except add to my to do list, have also added a crochet elmo. :D

Hope you pop back soon.

Plarn.......

Good Evening

Recently I read about plarn (plastic yarn).  http://www.myrecycledbags.com/2007/02/17/instructions-for-cutting-plastic-bags-creating-recycled-plastic-yarn/  So I decided to make myself a shopping bag out of all the free plastic bags I have.  I do try to take reusable bags so its taken a while to get some.  Anyway, I cut the bags up and joined them together with my daughters help to make my first ball of plarn.  I think I will be needing many more as I want a big bag with long straps to put over my shoulder so I can carry more.  My husband thinks I am completely mad making 1 bag from lots of bags.......

My Plarn

I also decided to make an ear warmer as I found that unless I wear my hat my ears get cold on the school run.

And here I am wearing it for this mornings school run and I am pleased to say it worked very well.

I really like these so made 2 more that I may sell.

I am currently working on another green sparkly one for my daughter.

Back soon

Giant Teddy Bear

Good Morning

Has everyone got snow.  We have had some but I dont think it will still be there tomorrow.  I hope not anyway, I have to drive tomorrow afternoon and I dont drive in the snow.

I made January's contribution to my xmas/birthday stash and I have also made a huge teddy bear for a first birthday but need to make a dinosaur so her mum can pick which she would prefere.  I think the teddy is bigger than she is (the baby not the mum).

So here is the Hello Kitty that I expect my daughter will end up with at some point.

And the teddy bear.  I started to follow a pattern for his head and muzzle.  I then changed the ears as I didnt like the ones on the pattern.  Got half way through the body and changed that.  And then decided that the stubby arms and legs werent very good so came up with my own for them as well.  I am very impressed with how his feet came out.

His arms and legs are flappy so he can sit and stand.  I think it looks better than stubby ones that dont move.  And much easier to cuddle.

And here he is by my remote control so you can see how big he is.

I seem to be running out of wool now, I have lots of fluffy wool but only part balls of real wool, not enough of anything to actually make something so a trip into town to buy more is needed.  Off to browse pinterest to get some inspiration for my next project.

Thanks for popping by
